The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible

If you were rushed to the hospital with a heart attack–and the Dr. pulled out the Bible and said, Well, according to John Blah Blah Blah severe chest pains are a sign of… What would you say then?

Do you believe it is wise to wear a seatbelt? Is that belief based on the Bible or…Physics, maybe? I believe that a diet abundant in vegetables and fruits is much better for my heart than a meat rich diet. I believe being much more vegetarian is the best way. My doctor told me that. He learned it from his teachers at medical school, who shared the accumulated human knowledge of our own bodies with him. If my lawyer started talking about biblical law instead of U.S. Law, I would have to fire him. I believe in Einstein’s theory of gravity–because it was proven, Scientists have observed gravity bending light–I believe that if I am taken into an orbit of this planet, I will float. You can do this in an airplane if you have a lot of money. You can float. Does the Bible say anything about the possibility of my floating–oh, does it?

Oh, and the doppler effect! That deserves a new post!!!

It’s not unusual that the human mind finds the system it evolved from far too elegant to be an accident.

It’s difficult to accept that we are all part of a very fortunate accident.

But, see, even the idea – this accident is fortunate — is problematic.

I mean, of course we think this reality is fortunate. This reality really works for us.

In fact, creatures who no longer find the Earth system so elegant and perfect and fortunate–well, those creatures are extinct.

Come to think of it, the Earth is 14+ billion years old. At several points in that long history, this was not a good place for humans. We would not have survived here. We would have been devoured. We know that for sure.

So, why did this proposed creator/designer wait so long to make this planet habitable for us?

Why am I not enjoying the results of 14+ billion years of human creativity?

I could be on a space ship, right now!

Where’s the love, God?

Where’s the love?
